The Barn Restoration
Restoration - an ongoing process
The Walnut Grove Farm’s iconic bank barn has “sheltered” many animals, hay, grain and tools as it was adapted to fit the changing farming needs-about every thirty years. In 1987, the farm’s history was researched and revived, and the ensuing series of restorations and renovations have continued as resources were balanced with need. A cycle of painting, roof replacements foundation repairs, structural shoring up continues..
Respecting history
Since the interest in “real barns” and rustic venues has created a barn revival, we wanted to accommodate the next generation of Walnut Grove Farm fans. We installed a commercial septic system and 21st century bathrooms in 2020. Tucked into the granaries with convenience and accessibility in mind, we meticulously respected the historic integrity of the building. Experience stepping back in time…. but not too far!
